Rancho Rana Roja is very special to our family. It’s something that we have worked hard to create, we have put our heart and soul into this project and this land. To us it’s important for us to live in a way that honors what is truly important in life…family, health, happiness, and living in harmony with the earth. We take care of the earth with love and respect, and the earth takes care of us and our future generations. It makes us happy to be able to share our home, doing what we love and promoting the values we care about with visitors.

OUR HISTORY
The Navarro family bought the land in 1949. For more than 50 years, the land was used as a field for agriculture and pasture for livestock, which had a negative impact on the health of the land. So when Marvin, the current owner of Rana Roja, inherited his piece of land from the family, he began developing a new more sustainable vision to help the land regenerate. This started with the construction of sustainable tilapia ponds, which together with Doña Rosa's magic in the kitchen, inspired the opening of their restaurant in 2015. Meanwhile, Don Marvin continued his passion and dedication for agriculture and caring for the land with more consciousness & respect for nature. Cabins were built to offer lodging and give visitors further opportunities to enjoy the place and learn about regenerative & sustainable farming. Throughout the years, the Navaro family has been living the authentic rural farming lifestyle, becoming more deeply connected with nature and developing valuable knowledge of agriculture and the land. Now they feel blessed to be able to share their knowledge and abundance of the land with visitors from all over the world. They have created a magical place to truly experience the raw beauty of Costa Rica’s nature, culture, and lifestyle.
OUR MISSION
It’s important to us to preserve the natural environment that surrounds us and live in a symbiotic harmonious relationship with land. The earth provides us with everything we need, and we are lucky to live in a place with such an abundance of natural resources. It is our responsibility to take care of these resources and use them consciously. Our mission with Rancho Rana Roja is to live by this principle and to share what we do with the world. To share the beauty and joy that this land offers, share the healing and nourishment of the land, share the love and hospitality of our family, share the wisdom that we have gained from working so closely with the land, share the Costa Rican lifestyle and culture.
