Apprenticeship Program

Our apprenticeship offers hands-on learning on an authentic Costa Rican farm. We’re building a beautiful and peaceful regenerative farm not only because it brings us joy but because we think it is our duty to respond to the environmental crisis of our time and take responsibility for how we engage with the land we live on.

One of our missions is to teach others how to live off the land the way we do and train more individuals to be well rounded in the essential knowledge we engage with here.

If this aligns with you, we are happy to welcome you to our home and teach you the practices of living in a way that nourishes you as an individual and that gives back to the environment. Our goal for participants is to help you build skills you can take and apply anywhere, adapting them to your unique needs, desires, and projects.

What We Offer

  • New skills and experiences. We can teach you a wide range of skill sets that are valuable for living, farming, and working with the land in a sustainable and regenerative way.

  • Innovative and engaging projects. We enjoy getting creative with our projects, which can include processing sugar cane, making fresh cacao, planting and harvesting, and creating new permaculture inspired spaces from natural elements.

  • Plant Workshops. We have a talented community herbalist living at the farm, Kara! Ask her about one-on-one plant workshops.

  • Delicious food. Much of the food we serve at the restaurant is from the farm itself or locally sourced. This is where you will eat 3 fresh meals a day. If you have a food allergy we will do our best to accommodate.

  • Meet the neighbors. Spend time with the family and friends of our project that make up our local community.

  • Explore the surrounding area! There are several beautiful waterfalls, beaches, towns, farmers markets, and national parks and nature reserves in this area. Check out our "Activities Nearby" page for more ideas.

  • Free time.  We live peacefully and always make time for resting, nourishment, and sharing with family, and having fun. You will also have plenty of opportunity to learn about and experience the local culture.

  • Give back. We appreciate and honor how you choose to use your free time, and we greatly appreciate any way that you want to volunteer to support our project in your own unique way. We can discuss any ideas you have and how it may be of service to the project. Examples are cooking and helping in the kitchen, social media, and beautifying our spaces with your creative ideas and art.

  • Lodging. You will have your own comfortable full size bed in a private room, with shared bathroom and and a restaurant/communal kitchen space.

  • Laundry. You will have access to a washing machine and clothesline for drying.

  • Common spaces. You are welcome to hang out at the restaurant/kitchen space, the yoga deck, the river or waterfalls, the soccer field, and any other common spaces on the farm. We want you to feel at home.
